Born Denton, Texas January 22, 1934
Graduated Denton High School 1951At age 13 worked with Pete Burrows & Range Riders Country Band and Al Dexter's' Troopers as well as Dewey Grooms Band at Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas.
Co-Founded Sid King And The Five Strings Band. With Columbia Records five years. Played all over the Nation. Featured act on Big D Jamboree (CBS Radio) Louisiana Hayride and Red Foley Ozark Jubilee TV Show on ABC Network. Band owned a very successful nightclub in Conroe, Texas.First experience as a Country Music DJ was at KDNT in Denton. Texas his senior year of High School and for a short time after that.
The Five Strings were "based" in Taylor, Texas from 1955-1957. Worked Part Time as Country DJ those years while there.Left The Five Strings and entered Country Music Radio as a DJ Full Time at KCMO Conroe, Texas (in Houston Market) Was there 1959 through 1662 as Program Director.
1962 - 1964. Worked simultaneously for KVLB Cleveland, Texas and KKAS Silsbee, Texas as P.D. at both stations. (same owner). Did Air Shift on both.
1964 - 1965 KOKE in Austin, Texas as Program Director. Transferred to "sister" Station KPCN Dallas, Texas
1965 - 1967. Program Director.
1967 - 1968 KBOX in Dallas, Texas. (was there until he was called to WIL)
1968 - 1986 WIL St. Louis, MO. (was there until station sold, changed format)
1986 - 1994 KUSA St. Louis, MO. (was there until station sold and changed format)
1994 - 1997 KHAD Desoto, MO. (St. Louis Suburb) Program Director.
1997 To Present, W E W St. Louis, Mo.1959 - Named Mr. D.J., USA. Got two hours on WSM with Grant Horton. Grand Old Opry on Saturday Night.

Spent Three Years writing and recording 144 Bible stories on Cassettes into a Four Volume Set. Presented many to area Churches and Libraries. They are available commercially to the public also. Co-Founder and presently Vice President of The Gateway Country Music Association. Volunteered for many "Job Fairs" for High School students to encourage a career in Country Radio. Volunteered for many Seminars of Mo. And Illinois College and High School Broadcast students to encourage them to pursue a career in Country Music Radio. Was the first to convince the area stock car tracks to bring in DJs from all the area Country Stations and Country Bands for appearances.
One of the Emcees each year, and the first to convince The Variety Club to use DJs from all the area Country stations and to use Country Music Acts on their yearly Telethon For Crippled Children. One of the Emcees each year for the PBS TV Station's Fund Raising Telethon. The first to convince them to use DJs from all the area Country Stations.
Had DJs from all the area Country Stations to join him and Country Bands in Free appearances at area schools and colleges to promote the stations.
Speaker, literally Hundreds of Civic Clubs in Mo. And Illinois. Many, many times he had DJs from area stations join him to promote Country Music Radio.
Appears every year on PBS Radio Station Country Shows during their Fund Raising week helping to promote their Country Music Shows.
Headed many charity promotions and always included DJs from all the area Country Radio Stations. Provided Bands and DJs from area Country Radio Stations to participate with St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and Football Teams in many Basketball and Softball games to raise money to build an Area Wide YMCA in Festus, MO. (St. Louis Suburb)
For many years has encouraged DJs from area Country Music Station to join him in Fund Raiser Activities for The Judevine Center for Autistic Children.
For many years participated in Radiothons for St. Judes Hospital.
For many years an Emcee for Jack Buck Charity Softball Game. First to have them include DJs from area Country Music stations to appear with him.
Regularly participates in "Meals On Wheels", delivering meals to "shut ins". Always "volunteers" to set their Radio on a Country Music Station.
Has volunteered whatever knowledge he has to help owners of stations in MO. And Illinois who want to switch to a Country Format.
Davie is now known as the "Voice" of SteelRadio.com.
